CONSTITUTION

Article 1: Name
The name of the organization shall be Student Representative Council of KDU College Penang
Campus, hereafter referred to as Student Council.

Article 2: Address
Student Council registered under KDU College Sdn. Bhd. 32, Jalan Anson, 10400 Penang,
Malaysia.

Article 3: Aims and Objective
It shall be the objective of Student Council is to ensure and enhance communication and
cooperation

To achieve its stated objective, Student Council shall:
ž To create a better learning environment towards developing a solid foundation and
strengthening students’ skills such as social, sports, communication and leadership skills.
ž To organized/ coordinate events that showcase the cultures and lifestyles of the
participating constituents
ž To coordinate participation of constituents in other events that give opportunity to raise
awareness of their concerns and issues
ž To work towards a creation of caring community in KDU and to contribute to the society as
well.
ž To ensure that the needs and interests of students are well taken care of, by being the
mediator for the students and the management
ž To provide educational and social services to its constituents

Article 4: Advisor(s) Selection
The Student Council advisor shall be the Head of Student Service Department.

Article 5: Membership
The membership of Student Council shall be all the students currently enrolled at KDU College
Penang.

Article 6: Subscription
No subscription

Article 7: Meeting
Meeting shall be held weekly at the KDU Conference Room.

Article 8: Executive Committee
The Executive Committee shall consist of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant
Secretary, Treasurer, Webmaster and PR Associate. Each Executive Committee member shall
serve as an example of proper behavior for the other Student Council members.

President
ž To chair the Student Council meetings.

ž To represent the Council in all matters.

ž To be in charge of direct communication between the council and the management of
KDU.

ž To oversee all official student council function.

ž To responsible in all advertising and promotion (A&P) of the Student Council.

ž To chair any special committees that deal with matters of the constitution or law of SC

Secretary

ž To minute down the meeting agenda.

ž To keep all correspondence, minutes of all meetings, a register of all members and other
records.

ž To prepare and distribute the minutes off all meetings within 3 days of the meetings.

ž To responsible in all Student Council events write-up

ž To responsible in press invitation and press release

ž To submit events write-up to webmaster to upload in the Student Council website, notice
board and the advertising film.

ž To update the Student Council website, notice board and the advertising film.

Article 9: Elections and succession planning
Election of candidates for the Executive Committee of President, Vice President, Secretary,
Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Webmaster and PR Associate shall take place during the first
quarter of academic year. Candidates must be active members. Voters shall be limited to active
members of Student Council. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes shall be
installed in the office. In the event that an office remains open, the Executive Committee has the
authority to appoint a Student Council member to that position. Installation of the next Executive
Committee shall take place prior to the beginning of the first quarter of the next academic year.


Article 10: Committees  
Section 1: Standing Committees
Standing Committees shall be defined as committees that operate throughout the year. The standing committees shall be established by the Executive Committee prior to the start of the next academic year.

Section 2: Special Committees
Special Committees shall be defined as committees that operate once every year at a time prescribed by the Executive Committee.

Section 3: Ad Hoc Committees
Ad Hoc Committees may be formed by the Executive Committee as the need arises.


Article 11: Meetings
Regular meetings shall be held biweekly on a rotating schedule. Special sessions may be called by a majority of the Executive Committee. Committee meetings shall be held at the discretion of the committee chairperson(s).

Article 12: Quorum
There shall be no quorum for regular meetings. The attendance of a simple majority of the meeting shall be mandatory for a special session of the Student Council to be held.

Article 13: Filling of Vacated Offices
The Vice President shall assume the responsibilities of the President in the event that the President should vacate his office. In the event that an officer other than the President should vacate his office, a new officer shall be chosen by a simple majority.

Article 14: Removal of Council
Any elected council may be removed from office by the advisors if he has not fulfilled his duties or has damaged the effectiveness or reputation of Student Council.

Article 15: Amendment
The constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the Council.
